If We Hold on Together

Dear children,

Here is the lyrics for the song we sang in class today, 'If We Hold On Together'. We will learn the hand signs for the chorus next week. So, remember to learn the words first!

If We Hold On Together

Don't lose your way
With each passing day
You've come so far
Don't throw it away

Live believing
Dreams are for weaving
Wonders are waiting to start
Live your story
Faith, hope & glory
Hold to the truth in your heart

Chorus

If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
Where clouds roll by
For you and I
Souls in the wind
Must learn how to bend
Seek out a star
Hold on to the end
Valley, mountain
There is a fountain

Washes our tears all away
Words are swaying
Someone is praying
Please let us come home to stay

Chorus
When we are out there in the dark
We'll dream about the sun
In the dark we'll feel the light
Warm our hearts, everyone

Chorus

With much love,
Ms. Emilia

The Ant Explorer

Dear boys and girls,

Here is the poem, 'The Ant Explorer' by Clarence James Dennis, written in 1921. (The poem is 86 years old!)

The Ant Explorer

ONCE a little sugar ant made up his mind to roam --
To fare away far away, far away from home.
He had eaten all his breakfast, and he had his ma's consent
To see what he should chance to see and here's the way he went --
Up and down a fern frond, round and round a stone,
Down a gloomy gully, where he loathed to be alone,
Up a mighty mountain range, seven inches high,
Through the fearful forest grass that nearly hid the sky,
Out along a bracken bridge, bending in the moss,
Till he reach a dreadful desert that was feet and feet across.
'Twas a dry, deserted desert, and a trackless land to tread;
He wished that he was home again and tucked up tight in bed.
His little legs were wobbly, his strength was nearly spent,
And so he turned around again and here's the way he went --
Back along a bracken bridge, bending in the moss,
Through the fearful forest grass shutting out the sky,
Up a mighty mountain range, seven inches high,
Down a gloomy gully, where he loathed to be alone,
Up and down a fern frond, round and round a stone.
A dreary ant, a weary ant, resolved no more to roam,
He staggered up the garden path and popped back home.

And, of course, here are the photographs of your magnificent illustrations of the sugar ant's journey. Well done, children!

With much love,
Ms. Emilia

Bollywood Veggies

Dear boys and girls,

Today's learning journey to Bollywood Veggies was lots of fun! We saw many different vegetables, fruits, spices and herbs. I hope you learnt more about plants after seeing, touching and smelling them.

All these plants are organic which means that no pesticides or artificial fertilizers are used in the planting process.

Here are some photographs of this afternoon's trip:

We will do a reflection journal on our trip in class tomorrow.
Have a good rest!

With much love,
Ms. Emilia

My Neighbourhood

Dear Children,

Here are some photographs of the Social Studies group work we did in class today.

A neighbourhood is made up of different places which serve different functions. These places include: MRT station, school, shopping centre, library, HDB flats and terrace houses.

Do click on the photographs to see larger images:

I hope all of you had fun doing this small project. There were some very creative ideas. For instance, some of you added playgrounds, roads, pets and vehicles to your neighbourhood.

Please remember that it is important to work together with your group members. Share your things with one another and talk politely to each other.

If you would like to add more features to your neighbourhood, do bring the necessary things that you need next Friday.

Have a great weekend!

With much love,
Ms. Emilia
